Analyzing My Previous Kpop Disdain

If anybody goes back to one of the like 2 posts I have on this blog, they'll find one that prominently shows how I was frustrated with Kpop. Personally, I think there are reasons behind this intense disdain I felt for the medium at the time. Reasons which I will analyze here.

I hated finding out that it was fake. I think I knew that there wasn't a chance that all these people were friends, but the rational part of my brain was denying it.

I think the most important reason I started cringing when seeing Kpop-related things was because I wanted to grow up.  I also wanted to put the past behind me. I was obsessed with Kpop when I was on Twitter. I wanted to forget about this period in my life, and, as a result, I completely wanted to reject anything that I wasn't into before Twitter.

As mentioned earlier, I wanted to grow up. Currently, I'm at a stage where I'm not quite an adult but not a kid either. I'm about to go into college, so I wanted to reject Kpop because it felt juvenile to me. The fangirling over boys, the intense devotion for them, and not only that, but the fandoms. Kpop fandoms are extremely immature. This makes sense because they are mostly composed of teenage girls. I felt like I had to distance myself from what I once was.

Now, I don't have that disdain for Kpop anymore. I don't think I'll watch the reality/variety shows again or be as intensely devoted, but I still enjoy the music. There are also a few Kpop stars from some groups I like that I follow on Instagram.

I currently view Kpop like I do any other form of music. There are artists that I like, regardless of if I stan them or not. I rarely listen to music of who I used to stan, mainly because I listened so much that I overplayed the songs. I still make sure to check when they release new music.
